Astoria Edizioni

Identity

Astoria was founded in 2010 by Monica Randi to showcase female writers who view and describe our world with depth, levity and irony all at the same time. Here are the voices of women traditionally ignored by mainstream publishing or relegated to obscure literary genres for their choice to tackle, often with sophisticated humour, uncomfortable and unfashionable themes – the ties of family, complex human emotion, the reclamation of women’s place in the world.
Acquired by Guanda at the end of 2018, Astoria continues to search for – and publish – “neglected” authors.
The publishing house is proud to feature international writers dating as far back as the beginning of the 20th century of the stature of Frances Hodgson Burnett, Amanda Craig, Margaret Drabble, Stella Gibbons, Molly Keane, Alison Lurie, Ingrid Noll, Dorothy Parker, Barbara Pym, Margery Sharp, Angela Thirkell, Dorothy Whipple, as well as Italian authors like Irene Bignardi, Alessandra De Martino, Carlo Montariello, Marina Morpurgo, Ada Murolo and Ciro Noja. Astoria is also famous for its series, among which the works of M.C. Beaton and Georgette Heyer hold pride of place.
